about

After a three-year gap since the release of their Valediction compilation album, Nashville-based alternative electronic trio PreCog - Jason Thomas, Gerald Josef, and Bret Pemelton - have returned to the fray with the anthemic dark electronica of Take Me Anywhere.

A real statement of intent and the first fruits of an upcoming album, the title track and its b-sides see the trio build on their signature sound of evocative synth work, powerful vocal hooks and rock-infused melodies.

The EP’s title track shows that the trio have not lost their musical touch, with its thoughtful lyrics and ever-graceful vocals showing why news of PreCog’s return has been so well received.

The release of the EP has a special meaning for vocalist Jason, as along with his bandmates, he has been overjoyed by the reception the trio has received since they announced new music was in the pipeline.

Speaking of the title track, he says: “I truly appreciate everyone who supported us while we were able to adjust ourselves into a position to really show you what PreCog can do. This track was an older unreleased single we didn't do justice on first go round and I'm amazed at how Gerald and Bret brought it to life.”

Take Me Anywhere is joined by a newer track – Stardust – which evokes an almost synthwave-esque sonic palette and a driving lead guitar to create a quiet anthem in the making, and a great teaser for the band’s upcoming album. Rounding off the EP, AnalogueTrash alumni and prolific remixer Nature of Wires reimagines Take Me Anywhere into a driving industrial electro stormer in his instantly-recognisable style.

Adds Jason, “I can't wait to share what we have in store. I feel like I'm catching up with all my old friends by putting more music out there.”

Though the EP’s title track does hark back to the band’s earlier days, they have been busy writing and recording material in recent months in preparation for a new album.

Reveals Bret. “We do music because we love it, and when writing this album, we did not have any preconceived ideas of what it should be. It allows us to experiment more and be more fluid with our parts and keeps us from feeling limited by the vibe and the type of music we are supposed to do and just have fun.”

Take Me Anywhere is released on the 1st of December via Todmorden, UK-based record label AnalogueTrash and will be available to stream and download on all digital services. The band’s new album is slated for release in 2024.
